It has finally happened. Though the iPad has long since been the dominant revenue generating tablet on the market, it has now been reported by ABI research that Android based tablets have taken the lead.
ABI estimated that Android tablets generated half of all tablet sales revenues in Q2. The company said the global tablet market saw $12.7 billion in overall sales in Q2, $6.3 billion of which were iPads.
This is not surprising considering the same thing has happened to Apple handsets, as they were overtaken by Android some time ago. Yet, market share has shown to have very little bearing on both profits and web traffic. the iPad still surpasses all Android tablets combined in web traffic, according to a Chitika report. the iPad had 84 percent of all tablet web traffic in the month of July.
